thanksgiving day

manhattan
We had a great time in New
York, even though it took us seven hours or so to get there (it
normally takes
about four). Undaunted, upon finding the apartment we were
renting (Upper West Side), we headed down
to Central Park to see the balloons being blown up. By the time
we
got there (about 9:30PM), the balloons
were fully inflated. It was an awesome sight to see - but it was
also freezing! On the right, Barney's mouth
can be seen behind the kids.
Here's Big Bird in his "grounded" and
"airborne" state...
We found a spot at Central
Park West - where the parade starts. Here's "Chicken Little"
peering around
the building. For you John Lennon fans, we were situated right
outside "The Dakota." No - we didn't see
Yoko, although someone beside us saw Jerry Seinfeld walk by.
We had a great Thanksgiving
dinner at the "Metro Diner," right off of Broadway, a few blocks from
where
we were staying. We both had the squash soup, followed by stuffed
clams. Sonia had the turkey dinner
while I had a big, fat prime rib...YUMMMM! We topped it off with
pumpkin pie. When we asked for whipped
cream for our pies, the waitress came back and put on a very thick
layer of it on the pies. Then she said "oh,
this is good on coffee" and, without asking, just put on a thick dollop
on my coffee!
We tried getting on the "Today
Show," but it was just way too crowded to be seen by the cameras.
And it was freezing!
