Mexico City - May 2003

View of the world's largest city from the 37th floor of the Torre LatinoAmerica.

The Cathedral in the Zocalo

The picture on the left was taken from the Templo Mayor ruins in the shadow of the Cathedral.  The picture on the right is the view of the Zocalo from our hotel window.

One of the awesome Diego Rivera murals at the Palacio del Gobierno.

The Sanborn's restaurant at the Casa de los Azulejos.

The Palacio de Bellas Artes.

The beautiful art deco lobby of the Gran Hotel.

Street market around the Zocalo.

Basilica of our Lady of Guadalupe

This place was amazing.  It houses the famous image of the Virgen of Guadalupe.  There are essentially three cathedrals built on the site, with a sizable Catholic shopping mall underground and a vast street market in front.

The Pyramids of Teotihuacan

The pyramids at Teotihuacan are located just about an hour from the city center.  The pyramid at the upper left picture is the third largest pyramid in the world.  We first thought of just looking at it, but Luna talked us into climbing it nearly to the top.  Under the midday sun!  Both of the kids were troopers.  Justo was in a backpack enjoying the view.
