Bangkok

April 2001

This is the Chao Phraya River, the main river that runs through Bangkok.  We hired that boat you see on the left to take us along the river.  The engine on this thing was a huge car engine attached to the pole that steered the boat.  You can kind of see the outline of the engine in the picture - it's there at the end of the boat.

Part of the boat ride of course was getting cornered by a lone souvenir vendor along the river and being essentially forced to buy useless souvenirs at outrageous prices.  Oh well.  Our boat driver got a free soda out of it from this lady.

We tried out this backpack carrier for Luna - she seemed to really take to it.

This was at Wat Po - home of the vast reclining Buddha.

Another temple we visited was Wat Arun.
